Shigaraki ware is pottery made in Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. It is counted as one of the six ancient kilns in Japan and is said to have a long history of over 1,200 years.
Hechomon is a Shigaraki craftsman's word used to mean "unusual things". These vessels have various expressions, just like the various shapes created by nature and the individuality of each of us. These pottery are filled with the sincerity and playfulness of experts who value "inhomogeneity".
This series is based on the motif of the shapes of Satoyama, and is finished with bold clay texture and delicate construction.
