"The first G-SHOCK model, the DW-5000C, was born in 1983. The iconic square design remains intact, but the GMW-B5000 series is now fully metal and equipped with advanced functions such as smartphone link.

The shock-resistant structure of the watch, which sandwiches a fine resin buffer between the hard stainless steel metal bezel and the main case, makes the full metal case possible. The size is also kept the same thanks to high-density mounting technology. The back cover is a heavy-duty screw-back case with a DLC coating for excellent wear resistance. The metal band pieces are dimpled, inheriting the resin band design of the first model. The film solar cell and STN-LCD (liquid crystal) provide good visibility.

In terms of functionality, it is equipped with Bluetooth® communication function, and accurate time information can be obtained by linking with a dedicated app. It also has practical features such as a time correction system using standard radio waves (Multiband 6), stable operation using Tough Solar, high-brightness full auto LED backlight, world time, and day of the week display in six languages.
