●What is NMN?
Nicotinamide mononucleotide is a vitamin-like substance that is naturally produced in the body. However, as we age, the amount of NMN produced in the body decreases, and when NMN decreases in the body, aging begins, and it is thought that aging of physical and cognitive functions progresses. Numerous studies have reported that ingesting NMN brings about changes in the appearance and function of the body, and it is attracting attention as an anti-aging ingredient.
●NMN is converted to NAD within cells and is used in two ways.
- Activates longevity gene “sirtuin”
NAD binds to and activates sirtuins (Sirt1-7) and further activates all seven types of sirtuins. Sirtuins have four main functions: ① DNA repair (Sirt1, 6, 7), ② Control of mitochondrial quality and quantity (Sirt3, 4, 5), control of cell division (Sirt2), ④ Control of clock gene activity (Sirt1)
- Create energy (oxidation-reduction coenzyme)
