This is a shiso drink with a gentle sweetness and a refreshing shiso scent. The shiso is grown in the Asemigawa area of Motoyama Town, located in the headwaters of the Yoshino River, in a method of "carelessly cultivated," leaving the shiso almost entirely natural. It has a refreshing taste while still retaining its flavor. It contains no additives, so it is safe for children to consume.
Red shiso and green shiso grown in the Asemigawa area are collected at a processing plant in the area, and producers work together to create an extract full of shiso flavor. "Shiso Gokochi" is made with this extract as the base, giving it a refreshing taste. It is recommended to chill it well in the refrigerator or add ice to make it cold.
There are two varieties of shiso: red shiso, which is red and purple with crepe, and green shiso, which is green and has little crepe. Both are known to contain functional ingredients such as anthocyanins, rosmarinic acid, apigenin, and luteolin.
In terms of the health benefits of anthocyanins, reports have also been made of their visual function improving effect, as seen in blueberries, as well as their ability to suppress obesity and diabetes.
